Kenz wanted to get some German food for lunch before leaving Germany. So, we checked out the beer house across the street from our hostel (Augustiner Bräustuben). It was very crowded, and as we were looking for seats, a table of guys waved us over and offered to let us sit with them. They were very nice and fun, and told us a lot about the beer house, the area, and Germany in general. As most people know, I don’t drink beer. However, these guys wouldn’t take no for an answer and ordered me one. And, I’m glad they did! It was good, the first beer I’ve ever genuinely enjoyed. So, I ordered another, a Radler, which is beer mixed with lemonade. Also, great! So at this point, we’re drunk, and we decide to hangout with these guys and play cards. We had a lot of fun, and were glad to make more friends! I usually only get a same day hangover once a year (at Portland Pride!), and would like to revert back to that immediately. By the time we got back to our hostel around 8pm, we were no longer drunk, but very hungover. This made packing and our 4am train to the airport the next morning super fun.
We hung out in our room for the rest of the night, and got to spend time with our other roommates for the first time. They were fun and kept trying to offer us more beer, to which we said “no, thank you”, and promptly fell asleep. 😬
Munich as a whole was interesting. It revolves heavily around food, most of which I couldn’t eat. So I spent our time there searching for options, and being a little bitter that I couldn’t enjoy much local cuisine. But, we saw some gorgeous sites, visited an awesome museum, and ate plenty of soft pretzels!
Here’s a few more photos of our time in Munich!:
